Olive Garden Breadsticks
Ingredients
- Dough
- 350 mL warm water (110-120F/43-48C)
- 2 T granulated sugar (27g)
- 2 t instant yeast
- 280 g white bread flour
- 280 g wholemeal bread flour
- 2 t table salt
- 3 canola oil
- Topping
- 1 T unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/4 t sea salt
- 1/2 t garlic powder
Method
1. In a small bowl, mix water with sugar and yeast. Set aside and leave to activate and bubble; it should take around 10 minutes.
2. In a large bowl, mix flours with oil, salt, and the yeast mixture. Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead for 7 minutes or until you get a smooth ball of dough.
3. Divide the dough into 12 equal balls, and roll each out into a rope.
4. Place each rope onto a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
5. Preheat oven to 200C/390F just 10 minutes before the hour rise ends.
6. Bake for 15 minutes.
7. Prepare the topping. Melt the butter. In a small bowl, mix the garlic and salt.
8. Remove from oven. While still warm, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt.
Notes
Note from source: On super hot days, the dough might rise quickly (maybe 30 minutes instead of an hour). Keep an eye on it so it doesn't over-rise.
