Ingredients

  • 2 T extra virgin olive oil
  • 3/4 t minced garlic
  • 1 c diced onion
  • 800 g canned crushed tomatoes (2 cans)
  • 180 g tomato paste
  • 1/2 T dried oregano
  • 2 T dried basil
  • 1 T dried parsley (or 2 T fresh chopped parsley)
  • 4.5 T dried mixed herbs
  • 4 t Sugar (Granulated)
  • 450 g meat (ground beef, pork, chicken, or sausage, etc)
  • 240 g spaghetti
  • Salt (Sea) (to taste)
  • ground pepper (to taste)

Method

Heat oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat, and add onions and meat for about three or four minutes. Then add garlic, and cook until meat is cooked through. Once the meat is cooked, the onions should be soft and translucent; add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Turn heat down to low-medium, and add spices, including sugar. Cover sauce with lid. Simmer on low for 40 minutes. Add spices to taste--either oregano, basil, parsley or salt & pepper.

 

Cook noodles. Add the spaghetti to the sauce pan, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

You can use ground beef or a different kind of sausage, whatever you have to hand, in this.
