Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb lean round steak (topside), cut in long strips
  • 1/2 T paprika
  • 1 T butter
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 c beef broth or stock
  • 2 sliced green onions, with tops
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 4 fresh mushrooms, quartered
  • 1 T Corn Starch / Corn Flour
  • 2 T carbonated water
  • 2 T dark soy sauce
  • cooked rice, for serving

Method

Sprinkle meat w/ paprika. Let stand. Brown mushrooms in butter, take out. Brown meat, add garlic and broth. Cover and simmer til meat is tender (about 30 mins) stir in onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Cover & cook few minutes.  Remove beef to cutting board.  Blend into pot cornstarch, water, & soy sauce. cook stirring until clear and thickened (couple minutes).  Cut steak into bite-sized pieces while the sauce thickens.  Serve beef and sauce over rice.
