  • 440 g Sugar (Granulated)
  • 219 g Flour (Self-Raising) (1.75 cups)
  • 1 c unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c milk
  • 1/2 c oil
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 1 c water
  • Frosting:
  • 227 g butter (softened)
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 360 g Sugar (Icing)
  • 3 T milk
  • 6 T unsweetened cocoa powder


For the cake:

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour two 9" round pans. In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour and cocoa. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, mix for 2 minutes on medium speed. Stir in the water. Batter will be thin. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake springs back and the touch and center tests done. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Level as needed.

For the frosting:

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, vanilla and confectioners sugar. Add in the milk, beating until light and fluffy. Use extra milk, if needed, to reach desired consistency. Frost.
