Biscuits 1
Ingredients
- 250 g Flour (Plain)
- 4 t baking powder
- 2 T Sugar (Granulated)
- 1 t Salt (Table)
- 76 g butter (cold)
- 3/4 c milk (cold)
Method
Preheat oven to 425F. Prepare a baking sheet by greasing it; set aside.
Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt together in a bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender, or a fork, or two knives, until crumbly. Add milk. Stir until it forms a ball. Add a bit more milk if necessary to make a soft dough.
Roll or pat to 1" thick. Cut into circles with a biscuit cutter or a floured glass. Arrange on prepared baking sheet.
Bake in oven for 10-12 minutes, or until risen and nicely browned.
Notes
SJ Note 5 March 2010: These didn't rise well, though that may have had something to do with my patting the dough out to 1/2" thickness, worried about the 12 the recipe was supposed to make. My biggest problem was that these are crumbly, not flaky, so the hunt for a biscuit recipe I like continues.
