Chocolate Cake 7 (Sheet)
Ingredients
- 125 g Flour (Plain)
- 1/2 t baking soda
- 200 g Sugar (Granulated)
- 1 pinch Salt (Table)
- 57 g butter
- 1/4 c oil
- 2 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 c water
- 1/4 c buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 t vanilla
- Frosting Ingredients:
- 57 g butter
- 2 T cocoa powder
- 3 T milk
- 1/2 c chopped walnuts
- 1/2 lb Sugar (Icing)
- 1/2 t vanilla
Method
Preheat oven to 350F / 175C / Gas 4. Grease a quarter sheet cake pan (13"x9").
Whisk flour, baking soda, sugar, and salt together and set aside. Mix butter, vegetable oil, cocoa powder, and water together in a sauce pan and bring to boil. Pour over mixture of dry ingredients. Stir well, then add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Mix to combine. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake for about 15 minutes. When a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs, the cake is done. While cake starts to cool, make the frosting. Mix butter, cocoa, and milk; bring to boil. Remove from heat and add confectioner's sugar, nuts, and vanilla. Stir to combine. Spread over warm cake.

SJ Note 19 March 2010: We didn't like this. It was entirely too gooey; it didn't keep well to the second day - it seemed to be turning into a pile of mush.
