Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c milk
  • 125 g Flour (Plain)
  • 1/2 t Salt (Table)

Method

DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN.

Grease 6 large muffin tin cups or 6 custard cups. Break the eggs into a bowl and beat well. Add the milk, flour, and salt, and beat until just blended. Fill the muffin tin cups or custard cups 3/4 full with the batter. Place the pan on the center rack in the oven. Bakeat 450F/Gas 8 for 25 minutes without opening the oven door.

Serve the popovers hot with butter, jam, syrup, or honey.

Notes

SJ Note: The directions here are different than at the source link.  I've grown wary of food network's online recipes, after reading numerous reviews in numerous recipes mention that the recipe on the site is different than the one given in the show, and numerous reviewers have had problems with the recipe.  For this one, quite a few people had problems with the popovers being raw inside and burnt outside, so I opted to decrease the cooking time called for as a number of cooks suggested, and to follow the variation one person helpfully posted is in Paula Deen's book, to not preheat the oven.  I've also halved the recipe.

SJ Note 18 Aug 2010: The outside burnt, the inside was raw, and they hadn't done much popping.
