Beef with Oyster Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 T oyster sauce
- 2 T soy sauce
- 1 t Sugar (Granulated)
- 1/2 t sesame oil
- 1 T Corn Starch / Corn Flour
- 2 T vegetable oil (or peanut oil)
- 2 cloves chopped garlic
- 2 t chopped ginger
- 1 red chili pepper (deseeded and chopped)
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced beef (lean)
- 1/2 c sliced onion
- 1 sliced red bell pepper
- cooked rice (to serve)
Method
If your rice is not already cooked, start it cooking first. When done, set aside.
Combine oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and corn starch in a small bowl; set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a wok or skillet; swirl to coat. Add half the beef and stir-fry until browned; remove and set aside. Repeat with the remaining oil and beef; remove and set aside.
Add garlic, ginger, and chili to the pan; cook for 30 seconds. Add onion and bell pepper; stir-fry for 1 minute. Return the beef to the pan along with the combined sauces; stir to warm through.
Serve immediately with rice.
Notes
SJ Note 13 Nov 2011: Tasty! We had it with noodles instead of rice. When mixing it up, I thought the sauce was too much, but once added to the meat and veggies I thought it was just right. Easy; a keeper.
