Hashbrown Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 lb hash browns
- 1/2 c butter (unsalted) (melted)
- 5 oz cream of chicken soup
- 1 c sour cream
- 1/4 c diced onion
- 1 c grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 t salt - table
- 1/4 t freshly ground black pepper
Method
1. Preheat oven to 350F and grease a 9" square baking dish.
2. Mix all the ingredients together. Place in prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes or until brown on top.

To make hash browns, follow this recipe: http://myst.starforge.co.uk/index.cgi?block=recipemanage&op=view&id=429 but triple it; one pound of potatoes only yields about one-third of a pound of hashbrowns.
SJ Note 4 Jan 2014: This was really strange, and not good. As we were washing the dishes, Chris remarked that it's a shame we don't have an open fire: this recipe would be improved by a ritual burning. He's right. If you decide to make it anyway, reduce the butter by at least half: the finished dish had the grease just oozing out of it, in an offputting way. It was very butter upon bacon.
