Breakfast Sausage Pizza
- 300 g sausage
- 1 pizza dough
- 2/3 c shredded potatoes (excess water squeezed out thoroughly)
- 2/3 c shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 T milk
- 5 eggs
- seasoning (as desired)
- 3 T shredded parmesan cheese
Brown and break up sausage; drain well.
Roll out the crust on a 9"x13" nonstick pan (with sides). Layer sausage, potatoes, and cheddar. In a bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs; season to taste. Pour on the pizza. Add parmesan and bake in a 350F/175C oven until eggs are set and crust is done, about 20-25 minutes.
SJ Note: Original only called for salt and pepper; one review said it was kind of bland, and suggested using pizza seasonings.
SJ Note 26 Aug 2011: This was tasty! I used Slap Ya Mama, Tabasco chipotle, oregano, basil, garlic, and mixed herbs for the seasonings; could have done with more pepper. I made this in a roasting pan about 14" x 9"; next time I'll make it in a smaller pan, perhaps 8"x8" or so, for a thicker crust and thicker toppings. As it was, I added a couple of extra eggs because 3 didn't seem like enough, and it turned out decently. Someone also grated a tad more parmesan than called for, but it turned out tasty. Definitely a keeper.
SJ Note 11 Aug 2017: Must use large pan! Tried 8"x8" pan - didn't cook through. Have adjusted recipe to use more eggs & larger pan. Go easy on the spices & figure out what to use by writing it down next time. 1/4tsp each is too much!
